Injection Therapy – Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Injection therapy at Resolve Physiotherapy in Sutton Coldfield involves the use of either steroids or hyaluronic acids, which are administered by injection to intra- and extra-articular tissues and joint spaces. Injection therapy also includes aspiration of joint spaces where an accumulation of fluid is causing pain and/or preventing normal function of a joint.
Pain relieving Injections at Resolve Physiotherapy
Injection therapy is used as part of a programme to help treat:
- Inflammatory pain from a range of orthopaedic conditions
- Reduced range of movement/stiffness within a joint
- Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
- Bursitis of peripheral joints i.e. knee/shoulder/elbow
At Resolve Physiotherapy we will choose the most appropriate product to be injected and dose for your condition and symptoms. Most injections are quick and easy to perform. We only employ the best local consultants to deliver the joint injections as this is key to their success.
It is important to remember that the joint injection is in most cases not the treatment per say, but rather a catalyst that gives the physiotherapist you are working with a ‘pain free window of opportunity’ in which the underlying problem can be treated and rehabilitated back to full function. We will not inject as a first line cause of treatment as this is not best practise, and will ultimately leave you, the patient, disappointed when the symptoms likely return.
If the injection is very helpful, and other treatments are either unsuitable or less effective for you, it may be repeated if necessary.
Type of Injection Used
At Resolve Physiotherapy injection treatment involves the use of either a steroid or a hyaluronic acid. Steroids are sometimes given with a mix of local anaesthetic, this will be decided during the consultation and the best options for your particular condition employed.
